This article describes the purpose and features of the Screener, Diagnostic and Inventory.

Screener Assessment

- Purpose: To identify students who may need additional support to meet expected progress during the school year. The screener serves as a quick check to assess students' readiness and identify those at risk of falling behind.

- Functionality: The screener categorizes students by level of need based on their score. The Screener is a 30-question computer adaptive test designed to identify the level of learning for each student compared to the national average.

- Usage: It is recommended that all students take the universal screener assessment. It can be administered up to four times a year. Students who may need to be followed more closely or discussed at a team meeting are identified with red or yellow scores.

- Average test time: 25 minutes

Diagnostic Assessment

- Purpose: Helps educators pinpoint specific areas where students may need additional support.

- Functionality: The diagnostic assessment consists of a fixed-form test with 40 questions. Diagnostic assessments are focused on a specific grade level of content. The Screener result will be used to automatically assign each student to the appropriate diagnostic level assessment (PK - 8)

- Usage: A diagnostic assessment may be given at any time to help provide more information on student learning and to identify specific areas of need. Educators often give the diagnostic to students with a red or yellow Screener score. And sometimes interventionists and tutors will use a Diagnostic to inform their work with students.

- Average test time: 35 minutes

*Math Inventory

- Purpose: The Math Inventory is the most comprehensive and in-depth of the three assessments and is used for the students with the greatest needs or the most complex questions.

- Functionality: It focuses on 12 fundamental dimensions of mathematical learning with each spanning a range form PK to grade 8. The assessment begins at a level that is two years below the student's enrolled grade level and will adapt to higher or lower grade levels depending on the student's pattern of correct and incorrect responses.

- Usage: The Inventory is a longer assessment that can take as much as 80 minutes to complete. It should be administered in 15- to 20-minute sessions each day until completion.

- Test time range: 25 minutes -> 80 minutes

The Track My Progress assessments, including the Screener, Diagnostic, and Math Inventory, collectively offer educators valuable insights into student readiness, skill levels, progress rates, and areas for targeted intervention, ultimately supporting personalized learning and academic growth for every student.
