Learn how to utilize the import process to import staff member accounts who teach several classes

Updated over 2 months ago

School and District Administrators can import their staff roster and assign individual teachers to multiple classes. For example, in middle school, one math teacher is likely to teach multiple math classes. In order to save time and avoid manually assigning each teacher in their staff account page, administrators can use the staff import sheet to upload all class assignments at once. A guide for this process is below.

Click Administration

Sign in to your account and select Administration from the top tabs.

Select Staff and Click Import

Click Staff from the left column and then click Import in the upper right hand corner.

Consult the example import sheet

Look over the example import sheet before creating your staff roster spreadsheet.

Create your staff spreadsheet

Ensure that the Class column in the spreadsheet meets the specifications for adding multiple classes for an individual staff member. Use the | key in between class names in the column to add multiple class names. Make sure the class names match those on the student import sheet as well. For example, if you import your staff roster with a class titled "Math5A" and then import your student roster with the class name as "Math_5A" it will create two separate classes in your account. The naming convention needs to be specific to avoid creating duplicate classes.

Upload your spreadsheet

Click "My File Contains Headers" if you included headers in your file. Make sure the data in the rows matches the column title and then press Check in the bottom corner.

Once your data is checked, press Import to import the staff data into Track My Progress.

Consult the Staff list in the Administration tab to confirm that the classes properly imported to each staff account.
